Description:
·         Control underground sections from a geology viewpoint
·         Map and plot geological features, sedimentology and structures
·         Proactive approach to the development of geological solutions
 
Minimum Requirements:
·         BSc Hons Geology / NHD Geology
·         Thorough knowledge of Witwatersrand type gold ore bodies and mineralisation
·         Four years relevant mining geology experience
·         Good background in structural geology and sedimentology
·         Self motivated with good interpersonal and English communication skills
·         Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant gold fields occupational health centre, and pass a heat tolerance screening test
 
Advantageous:
·         Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
·         Basic knowledge of Geostatistics.
·         Cadsmine experience
 
Duties and responsibilities:
·         Control underground sections from a geology viewpoint
·         Map and plot geological features, sedimentology and structures
·         Proactive approach to the development of geological solutions
·         Compile ore body trend plans (e.g. faces) and structure plans
·         Plan and control drilling programs for optimal exploration, development and extraction of the ore body
·         Log boreholes, incorporate and distribute information
·         Geological hazard identification and reporting
·         Contribute to mine planning
·         Perform project research of economic value
Training and mentorship of junior staff
