Technical Sales Specialist
The Company:
A dynamic, leading company in the supply of continuous emission monitoring systems and products for process analytics is growing aggressively and requires a Technical Sales Specialist. Our customers cover the power generation sector and industrial groups including pulp and paper, mining and minerals, petrochemical, refining and incineration among others. The product lines include a variety of gas analysers, sampling system components and process analyzers such as gas chromatographs and FTIR analyzers. The company specializes in systems integration.
Position Profile:
- The successful candidate will work closely with new and existing customers to identify needs, complete engineering adaptation of products including emissions and process monitoring systems and services. The incumbent will:
- Bring a high degree of leadership, responsibility, creativity, vision, accountability, and diplomacy to this role.
- Be a member of the sales team, helping to drive a culture of customer focus, professionalism, teamwork and creativity. The Technical Sales Specialist brings a strong technical sales background to the company.
- Be available to travel extensively in Canada and the U.S.
- Contribute to the development of an overall sales and marketing plan for the entire product line, consistent with the strategic plan and goals of the company. This includes establishing new accounts and servicing existing accounts by planning, organizing and managing an intensive sales procedure planning process. The position also contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying both short term and long range issues that must be addressed.
- Work closely with the President to identify and communicate monthly and quarterly sales priorities to Sales team members.
- Provide information and commentary, recommend options and courses of actions and implement directives.
- Build relationships with clients and potential clients by responding to queries and requests, and build customer rapport by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
- Prepare cost estimates by studying application specifications, plans and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, and other professional and technical personnel.
- Prepares comprehensive proposals detailing the technical scope of supply and commercial terms.
- Determine improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environments; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes or use of materials or services.
- Submit orders by conferring with technical support staff and costing engineering changes. Prepares cost/pricing sheets, quotations and proposals for customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of federal, provincial/state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new emissions monitoring legislation; anticipating future legislation, advising customers on this legislation with respect to adherence to requirements or advising customers of needed actions.

- Professional and polished, the candidate must have a confident manner, the ability to focus on the big picture while also being an active, engaged leader of our Sales team.

- Energetic, intelligent, enthusiastic; a business professional of high integrity and the ability to accommodate and deal with changes.
- 5-7 years of sales and marketing experience gained in a results driven environment, preferably with experience in process analytics and/or emissions monitoring.
- Highly organized, motivated and results oriented with the ability to motivate others in the company.
- Strong project planning skills.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with and influence external and internal customers at all levels.
- Competent in writing reports and presenting information to current and prospective customers, as well as the company.
- Leadership and presentation skills are required as is the ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines.
- Demonstrates a strong team orientation and contributes effectively to team efforts.
- Proficient in the MS Office software family. Knowledge of Service Manager is an asset.
- Degree in Business and/or P. Eng is an asset.
Compensation:
Competitive base salary plus a performance bonus based on agreed upon metrics at the beginning of each year, and full company benefits.
Travel:
Travel will be required between 50% to 75% of the time.
