General Manager Corporate Affairs

Description:
·         Our client is a listed Australian company with a number of operating mines and projects in Africa and other parts of the world.
·         Like most of the miners in the world the GFC has been an issue but the organisation is again on the growth trail.
·         The company is seeking a senior individual to take control over all the corporate affairs/ government relations, functions and joint venture relationships in an African country which has 3 of its mines and potentially another 2 projects in the pipeline.
·         Reporting directly to and working closely with the Vice President Operations, this key role will have diverse responsibilities of building strong working relationships with federal, state and local government instrumentalities, as well as forging strong links with the local communities and NGO’s, managing their expectations and working with them to create a harmonious and supportive environment.

Requirements:
·         Ideally you will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and a good understanding of the mining industry with significant exposure in engaging at senior levels of government, community groups and NGO’s.
·         Prior experience in Africa would be ideal; however candidates who have worked in other third world countries and who speak French would be welcomed.
·         This position is a springboard to the more senior position of Country Manager Africa which will become available in due course so the opportunity to advance your career is real.
