Description:
·         This is a position that provides sound and effective and comprehensible legal advise to 4 strategic divisions of this leading mining house.
·         The role keeps abreast of changes to legislation affecting mining law and property and represents the business units to ensure stakeholder alignment with regards to property management which includes work related to mining and prospecting rights.

Minimum Requirements:
·         Degree LLB,BPRoc,BUris and admitted attorney with a minimum of 5-7 years Mining law and Property related experience.
·         An in depth knowledge of leases, conveyance, contracts and drafting, and an in depth knowledge of litigation.
·         An in depth knowledge of relevant legislation:ineral and PEtroleum Resource development act No 28 of 2002, Minerals Act no 5 of 1991, mineral and petroleum Royalty Bill, and the mine and health saftey act.
·         Knowledge of BBBEE Act 2005 and code of Dood Practise and BEE Scorecard.
·         You will have attended recognised safety and risk courses and be able to travel extensively.
·         This is a highly specialised position.

Job Specification:
·         This is an operational and technical role and the deliverables will impact and benefit the organisation within a 2-5 year period.
·         Draft and complete legal applications for mining and prospecting rights.
·         Manage royalties payable as well as fees payable.
·         Assist with legal matters relating to new projects: purchasing of land and relocation of graves and communities to enable execution of projects.
·         Liaison with Land affairs on Land restitution claims and deal with Public affairs. Draft leases, purchase agreements, servitudes etc.
Establish and manage relationships with internal and external shareholders and consult with legal firms on litigation matters and represent the group at various forums
