Safety Coordinator

[Company] has an immediate opening at its Esmeralda Mill Site 28 miles south west of Hawthorne Nevada. The roles and responsibilities of this position are to ensure the operation is in compliance with the Federal (MSHA), State of Nevada Mine Safety and Training Section (MSATS), Company and Site Health and Safety Standards. Provide training, guidance and support to all levels of Employees. Conduct safety inspections and audits. Assist management with accident investigations and issue timely reports to aid in prevention and recurrence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will conduct New Hire Safety Orientation Training at least twice monthly as scheduled or as needed by operations and prepare and conduct Annual Refresher Training, perform monthly planned inspections and assists management with same, issue monthly safety topics to foreman, participate in and conduct Drug and Alcohol tests as needed, coordinate and ensure site fire suppression systems are being maintained, insure Industrial Hygiene sampling and audiograms are being conducted, accompany Federal and State Inspectors while they are inspecting, assist with industrial injury claims, maintain the site safety program in alignment with [Company] systems, conduct hazard identification and risk analysis and train the workforce with same, develop and maintain Standard Operating procedures for the site, conduct Visitors Hazard Recognition Training as needed.
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements:
  • At least 10 years experience in a mining environment working as a safety professional or a Bachelor of Science in Safety and 5 years mining experience.
  • Excellent communicator
  • Must have current MSHA Instructors certification to include IS and IU, MR would be a plus
  • Must be computer literate and be proficient with excel, word and ppt.
  • First Responder or EMT a plus
