Operator

Position Description
  • Moves or pushes buttons to start or stop the conveyor
  • Observe the movement of coke on conveyor and dislodge jams
  • Lubricate moving parts, perform basic trouble shooting
  • Assist maintenance or other department as required
  • General clean up of coke thru the use of bobcat, shovels or water hose, cleans and perform basic housekeeping duties
  • Notify Foreman/Supervisor of breakdowns/malfunctions
  • Operate remote control to load vessels and coordinate with master and chief mates for satisfactory loading during his shift
  • Learn to do logs and scale for ship loading
  • Maintain radio communication with crew/Foreman to insure proper equipment operation Understand inspection procedures and inspection report on equipment
  • Train on D9 dozer, front end loader, forklift and manlift
  • Assist co workers on shell crane cable jobs on holding and closing lines
  • Take daily samples of coke or as directed by supervision
  • Properly inspect metal detector and magnet to insure proper operation
  • Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently
Position Requirements
  • Must be willing to work day or night shifts/overtime hours during the week or weekend hours
  • In order to perform essential duties, regular work attendance is required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's driver license and have willingness to use personnel/company vehicle in course of employment
  • Must pass and complete safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan
  • Must be able to reset the Stamlers and conveyors using panelview system
  • Understand and comply with customer and Kinder Morgan rules and safety regulations
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of conveyor belts, bearings, bobcat, forklift or dozers is a plus
Experience Required:
  • Less than 1 year
