Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, physicians, and regulatory consultants brings together more than 90 different disciplines to solve complicated problems facing corporations, insurers, government entities, associations and individuals. Our more than 850 staff members work in 24 offices across the United States and abroad. [Company] has approximately 600 consultants, including more than 325 that have earned a doctorate in their chosen field of specialization.
  • [Company] scientists and engineers provide proven, cost-effective, scientifically defensible, and realistic assessments and solutions to complex problems. Our environmental services include: air quality evaluations, ecological and human health risk assessments, environmental economics analyses, natural resource damage assessments, site investigation and liability management, toxic tort investigations, toxicology consultations, and water resources and water quality management.
  • We are currently seeking a Principal Air Quality Scientist or Engineer for our Environmental Sciences Practice. Preferred locations are Boston, Washington, D.C., Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle. The ideal candidate will lead air quality business efforts; lead projects; and develop new business in air quality engineering and/or atmospheric science. Experience in litigation support and expert witness testimony is essential. He or she must have the desire to join our group for the purpose of developing and growing the national environmental practice by taking advantage of the highly qualified staff, capabilities, and clients at [Company] and attracting and hiring new qualified staff. The candidate will join a collegial staff and will work with interdisciplinary teams typically from within the Environmental Sciences Practice as well as from the Health Sciences centers, EcoSciences, Construction Consulting, Thermal Sciences, Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, and other [Company] practices.
  • This position requires expertise in one or more of the following areas: compliance, permitting, indoor air and atmospheric dispersion and deposition modeling; ambient air quality and emissions monitoring; rule assessment, pollution control research, and greenhouse gas studies; and expert testimony.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, meteorology, atmospheric science, environmental engineering or related field
  • Fifteen (or more) years of experience in environmental consulting
  • An outstanding reputation among clients for integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise
  • Experience as an expert witness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in managing projects and multidisciplinary teams
