Requirements
- [Company] is currently hiring an Engineer in our Menlo Park office.
- The individual in this position will be responsible for performing general mechanical engineering analyses, including failure analysis and design analysis, with particular focus on fatigue and fracture mechanics analyses of crack growth and criticality.
- In addition, the candidate will support activities within the mechanical engineering and material science practice groups in failure analysis and prevention and evaluation of engineering documentation.
- The individual in this position may also assist other engineering practice groups within [Company] on an as-needed basis and support senior staff in project development and marketing.
- The individual in this position will be expected to grow in key aspects of consulting, including technical expertise, effective spoken and written communications, and internal and external marketing of the candidate’s own capabilities and those of the firm to develop a consulting practice serving clients both within and outside of the firm.

Qualifications for this position include:
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with focused thesis/coursework/project experience in fracture mechanics and solid mechanics
- Working knowledge of fatigue and fracture analysis methods is required and experience with commercial finite element analysis software (e.g. ANSYS, MARC, ABAQUS) is preferred
- Must be proficient at performing stress analyses via the finite element method and closed-form approaches and incorporating the results of such analysis into classical fatigue (S-N) and fracture mechanics based life assessments
- A working knowledge of reliability assessment and fitness-for-service evaluation of cyclically loaded structures is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute
- Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
