About the Job
  • Titanium Metals Corporation produces titanium melted and mill products. We offer titanium sponge, which is the basic form of titanium metal used in titanium products; and melted products, such as ingot, electrodes, and slab that are results of melting sponge and titanium scrap. We also provide titanium mill products such as billet, bar, sheet, plate and pipe. Titanium Metals Corporation sells its products directly in the United States and Europe, as well as through independent agents and distributors worldwide. TIMET serves commercial aerospace and military, the chemical industry as well as oil and gas. TIMET was founded in 1950 and is headquartered in Dallas, TX.

Summary

  • Manage plant employee training (orientation, operational, safety, quality, environmental, and maintenance). Coordinate safety initiatives, projects, corrective actions, and incident investigations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Recognize, evaluate and provide solutions to health, safety & environmental concerns.
  • Recommend changes to safety policies and work practices. Upon approval, help develop new and revised programs to address hazards, prevent accidents, and ensure regulatory (OSHA, PA L&I, etc.) compliance.
  • Develop new safety programs and initiatives to increase awareness, and reduce the potential for accidents and exposures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and issue safety corrective action requests (SCARs) as necessary.
  • Lead one of the TIMET Morgantown Safety Committees and work with them to complete projects.
  • Participate in the TIMET Morgantown Safety Review Board.
  • Track the status of SCARs, follow-up, and issue reports.
  • Conduct / coordinate Morgantown plant new employee orientation training.
  • Conduct training for various safety topics (confined space, hot work, heat stress, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, emergency evacuation, etc.)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and recommend changes.  
  • Coordinate/conduct Industrial Hygiene testing and reports as necessary.
  • Coordinate the Morgantown plant Hearing Conservation Program on an annual basis.
  • Coordination and implementation of all required environmental programs for the Morgantown site.
  • Complete safety, environmental and hazardous waste audits and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Complete all environmental reports for State and Federal authorities regarding wastewater, hazardous waste and hazardous chemicals.
  • Coordinate the pickup of all hazardous and universal wastes
  • Stay current on the various regulatory (OSHA) requirements and changes. Continue an active personal/professional development program through selected seminars, home study courses, trade magazines, books, journals, etc.
  • Perform other various duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Degree in Health and Safety or Environmental Science or related preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to focus on details and understand the overall impact of events and decisions.
  • Ability to travel to other TIMET facilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with weekend and/or back shift hours as required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills. Good writing skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in the technical and training skills required to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations and the potential safety hazards that exist at TIMET.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Strong Computer Skills (database, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.).
