Sr. Applications Chemist / Engineer

[Company] wholly owned subsidiary, is a leading producer of engineered glass materials serving the highway safety, polymer additive, metal finishing, and conductive particle markets.
[Company] has an immediate opening for a Sr. Applications Chemist / Engineer at our R&D facility in Conshohocken, PA. If you are looking for a role of real responsibility with a dynamic industry leader, then we encourage you to apply.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct lab work to support new product/applications development and technical service work related to solid and hollow glass spheres for use in polymer additives, light weight cements and other developing applications.
  • Visit customers to better understand customer requirements and to assist with technical service and problem-solving.
  • Develop critical process parameters and methodology for technical solutions to customer problems.

Education/Technical Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • B. S. in Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical industry experience.
  • Strong technical background, including an understanding of polymers processing/applications and powder handling/processing.
  • Experience with industrial processes and equipment design.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to facilitate problem-solving.
  • Strong customer orientation skills with excellent problem-solving ability both in the lab and at customer sites.
  • Ability to understand customers’ processes and equipment.
  • Familiar with designing and developing experimental set-up and design of experiments for systematic approach to technical problem-solving.
  • Familiar with materials characterization and analytical tools.
  • 40 % of the job will involve travel to customer sites.
