Senior Biologist
Job Responsibilities:
- [Company] , a leading natural resources and environmental planning firm, is seeking a senior biological leader to act as a senior project manager/senior technical (biological) lead on large, complex projects that focus primarily on energy and biological issues. This position is located in our Irvine, CA office.
In addition to project management, job responsibilities include:
- Consulting with clients on overall permitting and environmental compliance strategies;
- Directing/supporting business development activities such as proposal preparation, interview participation, and strategic planning;
- Conducting peer reviews;
- Mentoring junior staff;
- Implementing QA/QC standards, expanding project work with existing and new clients, and establishing relationships with clients and professional peers.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or related field; a Masters degree is preferred;
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental consulting;
- Field expertise in wildlife surveys for desert conditions and wetland delineation skills;
- Ability to develop mitigation plans, environmental management plans, habitat conservation plans, and adaptive management plans;
- Ability to communicate complex technical information and approaches to project managers, clients, and non-technical staff in a clear manner;
- Strong organizational and writing skills;
- Working knowledge of ESA, CESA, CEQA, NEPA, and related environmental laws and regulations;
- Management experience, including managing staff, budgets, and schedules;
- Strong business development skills is highly desired.
