Job Description

  • ENERPAC (an [Company] company) is the global leading manufacturer of high-pressure hydraulic equipment, components and systems for industries such as offshore, oil & gas, construction, mining, petrochemical and manufacturing, supplying high force solutions to these and many other industries worldwide. ENERPAC operates in the market of 700 bar high-pressure hydraulic equipment. The company’s products and systems are designed to raise productivity and profit levels, while offering top quality, safety and total customer satisfaction.

Business Contribution:  

  • This position is accountable for effective management of Enerpac’s R&D function. Manages and directs the research and development programs to capitalize on potential new product concepts & new technologies. Manages the innovation process for global Enerpac products to achieve objectives for New Product Vitality (NPV) set and approved by the Enerpac Leadership Team.  Acts as a mentor to develop technical organization competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage R&D projects. Utilize staffing to meet company goals and customer requirements. Focus on results performance, process improvement, initiative, teamwork, and ownership of the R&D function.
  • Develop technology partnerships to acquire competencies critical to achieving a competitive advantage.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and refinement of Enerpac’s strategic innovation process.
  • Work closely with business and market development to capture new business, contribute to technical requirements, develop new product concepts, and scope estimates for bids and proposal from contract firms when needed.
  • Align strategic company technology roadmaps with opportunities and end-user unmet needs identified by marketing.
  • Assess technical competences of the organization, identify skills and training needs and assist in developing to align with business strategy. Act as a mentor and coach to technical staff.
  • Provide technical oversight and expertise as required, and work closely with technical specialists and other functional area management to ensure delivery requirements of all R&D programs are met.

Required Skills

Education & Experience Preferences:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10 - 15 years of experience in the design of hydraulic pumps/valves.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the development of new products.
  • Good understanding of engineering and technology development processes.
  • Exceptional communications skills both written and verbal
  • High technical aptitude and strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional departments and teams
