Lean/Continuous Improvement Coordinator

Job Description

  • Our Weasler Manufacturing business is adding a Lean/Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator to their team in West Bend, Wisconsin.  This CI Coordinator significantly contributes to year over year sales growth and operational improvement through the support of our internal lean initiatives, known as LEAD (Lean Enterprise Across Disciplines). 
  • This position is responsible for assisting to improve individual business results through the development, improvement, and implementation of the organization’s LEAD process. Position will lead the LEAD Facilitators of the production units to develop and execute a LEAD continuous improvement plan in alignment with the strategic objectives of the business. This position will report to the Business Leader. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the development and expansion of the LEAD continuous improvement processes.
  • Responsible for establishing and executing a process to drive LEAD-Lean Enterprise and continuous improvement across disciplines from the shop floor to the office.
  • Provide ongoing LEAD progress updates summarizing involvement and activities within the businesses.
  • Lead the effort of developing training materials for LEAD toolbox tools.  Drive the use of these tools across Weasler production units, through the facilitation of kaizen events.
  • Work with the [Company] LEAD Office to identify outside resources, (i.e. Lean consultants), to assist with the LEAD plan execution.
  • Assist with development and implementation of a customer complaint process/system.
  • Establish and coordinate World Class Measurements as necessary to determine manufacturing performance and capability.
  • Provide technical guidance and facilitate problem-solving methodologies regarding quality-related issues (i.e. six sigma methodologies, MBF problem solving process, 8-D, FMEA).
  • Ability to use formalized problem solving approaches to effectively define problems and drive to solutions.
  • Work with the [Company] LEAD Office to identify the needs of Weasler regarding LEAD process support
  • Support new product development team with Advanced Quality planning tools and processes (must be able to implement 4P & PPAP process).
  • Insure best practice sharing and LEAD participation collaboration across Weasler and [Company]
  • Updating LEAD website with events
  • Internal/external LEAD reviews
  • Coordinating policy deployment with production units and reviewing rolling 12-month annual LEAD plan

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university, or a four-year technical degree or equivalent in engineering, business or related field.
  • Experience working alongside leadership team and demonstrating strategic capability.
  • Demonstrated influence skills at all levels of the organization..
  • Five + years’ experience in a technical capacity (Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality).
  • Six Sigma exposure/training. Black Belt or Green Belt training preferred, with demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to travel globally.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively function in a supportive/consultative role.  Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Experience with the TPS tools, (5S, VSM-Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Policy Deployment, Kanban, TPM, JIT, Cellular Mfg, SMED, TQC, 3P’s-Lean line design, Flow concepts, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in ISO/AS9000 and TS16949 standards and requirements.
