  • Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, [Company] has offices throughout the West, Pacific Northwest, Pacific Islands, and provides services on projects throughout the U.S. and its territories. Since 1981, SWCA has achieved a national reputation for providing its clients with professional integrity as well as creative solutions based on sound science. [Company] ranks among Engineering News-Record’s Top 200 Environmental Firms.   • [Company] is seeking an Office Director for our Tucson, Arizona office. This is a full time salaried position that will report to the Managing Principal located in Phoenix, Arizona. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Required Skills

  • Primary responsibility is to provide effective management to the office and staff; including supervision of senior staff, development and implementation of the annual business plan and a workable organizational structure, managing staff workloads, and growing the office profitably;
  • Participate as a member of the management team for the Southwest, including the Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, and Las Vegas offices of SWCA;
  • Develop and implement a business development strategy, in cooperation with neighboring offices, that will lead to maintaining and growing the Tucson office;
  • Work closely with other [Company] Office Directors, Managing Principals, and others within the southwest operation and throughout the company to promote [Company] business interests, develop new work, new clients, and foster our mission, vision, and values;
  • Mentor and train SWCA’s project managers;
  • Recruit new staff and project managers as workload requires;
  • Lead pre-proposal marketing and proposal development;
  • Ensure all projects achieve quality, schedule, and budget objectives;
  • Effective management of the overall financial performance and profitability of the office consistent with annual goals;
  • Build [Company] professional reputation within the southwest operation;
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create and improve procedures to assure effective and smooth operation of the office and;
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the MP.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in fieldwork and report completion, as well as scheduling and budgeting of projects;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience at increasing levels of responsibility in management, including supervising and providing leadership for other professionals;
  • Demonstrated business and consulting acumen;
  • Demonstrated expertise in federal, state and local laws and regulations;
  • Demonstrated performance and achievement in business development, including substantial established credibility with federal and state reviewing agencies and clients, as well as success in proposal writing and;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Environmental Management, Biology, Ecology or related field. Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience with an environmental firm required.
  • Candidate must have management and leadership skills including the ability to grow an office by developing and implementing effective business development strategies and management of other professionals.
