- The Geotechnical Engineering Group of the Civil Engineering Practice is currently seeking experienced candidates for senior level consulting positions in our New York, Alexandria, and Chicago offices. As a Principal Engineer you will have a significant role in developing business and expanding the practice in your technical and geographic area. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, securing new business opportunities and significantly increasing
[Company] Geotechnical consulting efforts.
- Exponent's Geotechnical staff provides unusually broad expertise to address a host of projects, including dams, levees, natural or fill slopes, buildings, braced excavations, pipelines, retaining walls, highway embankments, and other earthwork construction. Our engagements typically involve mitigating natural hazards, solving unique design problems, evaluating the merits of entitlement or differing site conditions for construction claims, evaluating the performance of facilities, or identifying the source of damage or failure related to landslides, slopes, dam/levee breaches, permanent ground deformations from earthquakes, ground motions or vibrations, excessive settlement, expansive soil, collapsible soil, sinkholes, pipe jacking/micro-tunneling, internal erosion (piping), and foundation and retaining wall failures. Our staff are also experts at remote sensing and air photo interpretation.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field
- Significant business development experience with a proven track record
- The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in their field with consulting experience and an established practice
- Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff, and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
- A record of professional papers and presentations, and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
