Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineering
Requirements
- [Company] is currently hiring for a Senior Engineer in our Wood Dale or Lisle, IL office. The individual in this position will be responsible for analyzing a wide variety of mechanical systems primarily related to transportation industry equipment with an emphasis on railroad systems, railcars, transportation tanks, certain aircraft structures and a variety of process equipment such as storage tanks and process piping.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Conducting a range of assignments including hands-on failure analysis (field and office assignments), planning and executing laboratory tests, participating in field inspections, performing mechanical and numerical analysis (e.g., finite element analysis, dynamical system modeling ) as well as testing of mechanical designs
- Supporting the Mechanical Engineering Practice’s activities in failure analysis and prevention and the evaluation of engineering documentation
- Preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities to meet with existing clients, form new client relationships and give presentations in professional settings
Qualifications for this position include:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a broad background in solid mechanics
- P.E. license is highly desired
- 5 years relevant experience performing engineering mechanical analysis and failure analysis as described in part above
- Specialized knowledge of railroad/railcar, aircraft, process facility or similar industrial structures is desired
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work within project teams with strong desire to contribute, have potential for technical and project managerial leadership as well as desire to seek new client relationships to grow a client base
- Must be able to convey complex technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
- Must be willing to travel on short notice, occasionally
