Logistics Manager
The Logistics Manager, located in Solon, Ohio, is responsible for the global flow of goods for The Robbins Company to meet the required delivery deadlines of our customers.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements and controls the efficient and effective flow of materials as required for the successful operation of The Robbins Company.
- Manages the domestic and international Shipping departments in Solon. Ensures appropriate staffing and levels of skills to meet the needs of the business in the most efficient manner.
- Develops best processes and necessary controls to ensure efficient operation, fully in control of the movement of materials to and between manufacturing facilities (Robbins USA, subsidiaries, and vendors), warehouses and job sites.
- Develops procedures and controls to ensure that Robbins products are properly packaged to allow ‘damage-free’ arrival of products to the customer, consistent with the professional and presentable Robbins image, and within the cost targets established.
- Coordinates closely with Project Managers to ensure delivery of product in compliance with contractual obligations and ensuring collection of contractually required negotiable documents as may be needed for collection of payments.
- Develops and coordinates the logistics plan for delivery of all major projects. This includes coordinating transportation needs with subsidiaries as necessary.
- Develops metrics for establishing baseline Logistics Department performance and trends in cost and efficiency.
- Develops relationships with transportation vendors in order to reduce cost and reaction time, improving transport times and costs.
- Domestic and international travel to job sites, warehouses, and subsidiary locations as needed (<20%).
Qualifications: (education, experience, certifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field
- 10+ years of manufacturing-related transportation experience, preferably in a project environment
- International transportation experience
- Experience in negotiating with vendors for services such as air freight, trucking and freight forwarders for containerized shipping and break bulk carriage
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Project)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
A professional certification or ability to obtain same:
SOLE CPL or CML
APICS CSCP or CPIM
