As a result of recent successful awards of contracts there is an opportunity to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer. This position is part of a sustained growth of the consultancy team on the back of the success of [Company] .
You will need to have an understanding of structural / geotechnical design. A key aspect will be your ability to provide innovative solutions and seek out opportunities for adding value.
You will mainly be carrying our design works for underground structures, including heavy foundations and retaining walls. To undertake this role you will need to be a chartered engineer.
Responsibilities:
• Team leader, taking responsibility for design projects and mentoring graduate engineers.
• Liaising with internal clients to understand their requirements
• Preparing designs for tenders in short timescales and providing ongoing support to Kier
• Providing support and designs to site teams from pre-construction and during the construction phase.
• Able to produce clear and well-structured calculations and reports and ensuring the rest of the team do likewise.
• Above all being able to be creatively and innovative in providing economic solutions.
Key Skills and Experience:
• High quality academic record to degree level, Civil and Structural Engineering or Engineering Geology but with proven ability to carry out geotechnical design.
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to act as team leader and manage and develop a team of very able graduates and technicians.
• Willingness to learn and take involvement in design of other areas such as design of steel and concrete structures.
• Design Experience - structural, Underground Structures.
