Management Associate - Plant Process Control Engineer

Description:

  • U. S. Steel has an opening for a Management Associate (MA) in the Plant Processes Unit of the Business Service Center (Global IT) located in Ecorse, MI, outside Detroit. U. S. Steel’s Management Associate Program provides relevant work experience while strengthening leadership capabilities for advanced roles within our corporation. Through formal and on-the-job training related to individual assignments, Management Associates build business and management skills while they prepare for successful futures.
  • The MA – Plant Process Control Engineer will be responsible for various activities depending on placement.

These activities include:

  • Design, develop, test and support of process control computer systems
  • These activities may include mathematical models, reporting, screen design, web page development, programming
  • Configurations and database programming
  • Communications and/or custom interfaces
  • The Management Associate in the Plant Process Control department will directly impact the process control group and the operational area to which he or she is assigned by providing automation and support to that facility. The MA will have the opportunity to interact with team members, the Team Manager and other operations management players.
  • This position will be working in an office and industrial environment within the plant, primarily during regular daylight hours, but may be required to provide occasional off-hour support for special projects or other needs. The percentage of travel is minimal; there may be possible travel between plant locations at given facility.

Job Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other IT-related degree; have completed computer language courses and have familiarity with Operating Systems, software design and programming concepts.

Skills Required:

  • Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communications capabilities demonstrating the ability to articulate ideas and listen effectively are necessary. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate effective working relationships with others of varying organizational levels, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments concurrently.

Other Skills Desired:

  • Other skills preferred are the use of MSOffice products, computer hardware, electronic peripherals, networking and databases. Working knowledge of Linux, Java and the ability to create screen interfaces are a plus.
