Shift Manager - Mobile Equipment Maintenance
Job Description
- Administration of the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping
- Application of engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve mobile equipment repair and operating issues to maximize efficiencies
- Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures and maintenance schedules to follow, improve and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs
- Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical/electrical maintenance staff.
- Directly supervise union maintenance staff, and work closely with vendors and contractors as necessary
- Ensure environmental compliance
- Other administrative activities may include scheduling/paying crews, completing maintenance reports, and other reporting as necessary.
- Experience in heavy equipment maintenance with an overall knowledge of power trains, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and electrical maintenance.
- Strong background in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline powered equipment.
- Knowledge of Tier 3 & 4 emissions a must.
- Knowledge of software/hardware diagnostic interface systems used in Fleet Equipment required.
- High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred in an Engineering discipline or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge of equipment maintenance and operation in a heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum 2 years working in an industrial maintenance atmosphere.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
