Security Officer AA Candidate

To provide a Security Operations function to ensure implementation and adherence to security policies, procedures, objectives and client needs.

Key Performance Areas

Financial Effectiveness

• Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures
• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters

People and Process Monitoring

• Performs real time surveillance on personnel exposed to material/commodities resulting from anomalous events such as spillage/blockage incidents, maintenance, breakdown repairs, sampling activities, etc. that create an interface between people and high value concentrate
• Performs focused surveillance activities directed at the detection of physical process anomalies as well as suspicious practices by individuals
• Formulates behavioural patterns and video profiles of employees for reference and analysis purposes to identify variation or unusual activity
• Monitors and evaluates the commodity process and operating practices remotely by means of the CCTV cameras to identify vulnerabilities
• Informs Global Security Surveillance Analysts or local intelligence team of identified suspicious activities that requires further review and/or expert analysis
• Remains vigilant at all times and reporting all relevant and possible activities
• Conducts audits of all system transactions including the activities of the Operators to identify anomalies and non-compliance with procedures and/or minimum standards

Command and Control

• Deploys expert security escorts for direct control over extreme high risk events where remote surveillance is not possible
• Monitors designated areas for irregularities and making recommendations for follow up action to be taken to apprehend any possible perpetrators
• Performs regular system integrity checks to ensure that all equipment is in working order, set up correctly and performs in accordance with functional specifications

Access Control

• Ensures effective administration of the security clearance process, reporting of anomalies and action taken to prevent unauthorised entry by high risk profile persons into the mine lease area
• Analyses access data/system functions, identifies trends and anomalies and initiates remedial action as required
• Ensures effective configuration of Access and Surveillance Management Systems in accordance with site specific requirements and approved change control protocols

Freight

• Ensures effective application of procedures to manage activities within the Freight Section aimed at minimising loss through theft resulting from access of personnel, vehicles and equipment to the mine via the facility

• Good understanding of the high risk commodity processes and identifies areas of risk.
• Ability to work with all levels of security, production and processing staff to improve operational effectiveness and problem resolution
• Ability to work in a team environment and display flexibility to work in a multi-skilled environment
• A good understanding of the mining and processing environments that enables and supports the proactive identification of vulnerabilities that could be exploited by those with criminal intent.
• Ability to effectively handle conflict, give and take constructive criticism, and also have strong persuasive impact on other.
• Ability to work across multiple cultures and levels within the Family of Companies.

Minimum Requirements

• Successful completions of screening assessments as well as required integrity testing.
• Relevant Tertiary Qualification at NQF level 4 (National Certificate) Security Management / Risk Management.
• Minimum of 3-4 years experience working in a security environment
• Demonstrate a professional demeanor that includes the ability to interact with senior managers, and high-profile communication.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT:

• Knowledge and application of industry legislation; Compliance to local regulatory bodies in various countries of operation.
• Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per the inherent requirements of the position.
