Safety Officer - Mining

• Achieve plant Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management Systems
• Ensure compliance with external, internal and legal requirements
• Conduct SHE audits and assist in external audits, Maintain SHE standards
• Identify SHE deviations in the workplace and implement corrective action
• Manage the integration of contractors on site
• Co-ordinate emergency and evacuation drills
• Fire risk assessments, inspections, yearly service and training of fire teams
• Incident recalls
• Be pro-active to further enhance workplace and worker safety
• Liaise with Occupational Hygienist and ensure surveys are conducted and complied with
• Ensure legal appointments are in place, updated and current
• Accident and Incident Investigations
• Environmental monitoring - water samples

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety Management with relevant plant and mining experience
• Must have Open Pit experience
• At least 2 years proven Safety Management System experience in a mining industry
• Good knowledge of legislation/standards applicable to the work environment
