Accountant (Mining)

My client, a medium sized mining house with strong interests in coal, is looking to employ an Accountant at their Administrative Head Office in Sandton.

Previous experience as an Accountant in a mining environment is preferred.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• B.Com Accounting
• Min of 5 - 10 years’ experience preferably within a mining environment
• Must be competent on Microsoft Office.

Job Mission:

Provide a full function accounting role and be responsible for coordinating and reviewing the annual operational budget, the quarterly operational forecasts, reviews all cost accounting records and Reports, Compile Variance analysis and investigation of any extraordinary expenses for the mine

• Bank Reconciliation
• Inter Company Loans
• Balance Salary & Wages
• Control Account Balance
• Garnishes
• Capture Accounts Payable
• Prepare and Reconcile Supplier Statements for payments
• Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
• Petty cash reconciliation
• Income Statement
• Prepare Monthly Financial reports pack
• Stock Valuation
• Sales schedule
• Daily updating & balancing of Receipts to General- & Debtors Ledger as well as Cash Book
• Close monitoring of cash flow and bank balances Updating Management Report weekly
• Balancing of all Balance Sheet Control Accounts on Monthly basis
• Reconciliation of all Payments and ensuring timeous Payments
• Contractual Payments
• Statements
• Capturing of Journals
• Stock takes and adjustments to be authorised and captured
• Preparation of Monthly Financial Package and Report and submission thereof to Management
• Control and authorization of local purchases orders.
• Analysis and investigation of variances Insurance policies
• Fixed Assets register
• Any other tasks, duties as assigned by management
