Chief Financial Officer

Our client is a Private Equity firm that focuses on investing in junior mining companies. The Executive team is comprised of industry experts, who have an impressive track record identifying key assets that are on the cusp of becoming a successful story.

Due to growth and successful financing, there is an immediate need for a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting matter for several entities that our client invests in. These companies range from producing mines to exploration, and are both publicly traded (TSX/TSX V) and private (with the intention of going public).

The CFO will play a critical role in setting up all accounting processes and systems, helping arrange additional financing, participate in potential M&A deals, and help with the initial offering for one of the entities.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated Chartered Accountant, who understands the risk and reward of junior mining. The operations are still at an early stage of development, so it will be absolutely critical that the incumbent has a hands-on mentality.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the CEO and Board to forecast challenges and develop strategic plans that will help ensure the continued success of the company
• Manage the accounting and finance both domestically and abroad
• Oversee all aspects of financial reporting including monthly management reports, annual and bi-annual financial statements, MD&A preparation, compilation of information required for analyst presentations and securities filings
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting process both domestically and abroad
• Work with foreign and domestic accountants, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
• Participate in various management and executive committees
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with various service providers including auditors, tax professionals, legal counsel, administrators and bankers
• Train an mentor an existing staff of 2 (Controller and Financial Analyst)
• Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as required

Requirements:

• Canadian Chartered Accountant Designation (CA)
• Minimum of 10 years experience working with a publicly traded mining company (preferably at the production stage)
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cash management skills
• Must be a self starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)
• Willingness to travel to Internationally
