Tasks
- The essence of this Global Release Manager position is to manage SAP changes and to optimize SAP operational performance. The majority of SAP changes will be introduced quarterly, but more frequent changes also occur. This activity involves creating and managing the entire SAP change cycle engaging primarily with both internal IT and [Company] business partners. In addition the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring optimal SAP operational performance. This aspect involves engagement with [Company] resources as well as with SAP and other external solution providers.
Lead and manage all aspects of SAP related changes including:
- The quarterly release cycles. Driving the majority of SAP changes to the quarterly cycles (80/20).
- Manage the non-quarterly changes including the related processes and tools such as Charm.
- Managing the CAB technical change process as well as the disaster recovery process.
Execute the quarterly releases including:
- Content determination with the business partners.
- Organization and alignment of developers, testers and SAP basis team members to enable successful release implementation, including identification and resolution of cross module conflicts.
- Communication and reporting of release status to both IT and business partners.
Optimize SAP operational performance including:
- Define and implement appropriate Solution Manager components.
- In conjunction with both internal IT resources as well as with SAP externally, maintain oversight of SAP operational performance and lead the definition and implementation of improvement actions.
Requirements
- This position requires a strong change agent with broad SAP experience, in addition to proven communication and organization skills. The incumbent will lead a small team of direct reports, but must be effective in driving change with non-direct reports both within and external to IT.
- 8-10 years’ experience with strong experience in Global IT Environment
