Senior Specialist: Tailings

Leading International mining house requires a person with significant knowledge of the variuos risls associated with tailings.

• Provide technical advice to Business Units to mitigate risks. 
• Residue areas encompass coal, base metals,platinum,diamonds and ferrous projects. 
• You will alos carry out project reviews on all aspects of mineral residue facility designs.

Minimum Requirements

• A B degree in Civil Engineering or an engineering geology qualification with specialisation in tailings. 
• Preferred qualifications would include project management, risk management auditor course, and occupational other civil engineering related course. 
• Proven extensive experience in tailings and related Areas. 
• Must be a registered Engineer or be registered with a natural science body and have significant knowledge of Local and International legislation. 
• Knowledge of mineral residue management and best practise, environmental management, geotechnical  engineering, hydrology and mineral extraction processes. 
• Be able to mentor junior engineers and work with consultants and draughts persons

Job Specification

This is an SA based position but the employee must be  prepared to travel globally when required Provide tailings /civil review input into technical project reviews including closure and rehabilitation.

• Do preliminary design work for new tailings facilities, review and audit of operational facilities. 
• Provide high level support to all business units and develop strategy to mitigate risks, develop processes and systems for monitoring the tailing facilities, provide input into technology innovation projects and have an understanding of the environmental systems applicable to mining in the various geographies in which the company operates
