Position Overview:
• Design, develop and optimise rubber compound formulations to process, product, market and field performance requirements
• Approve and manage rubber raw materials that enhance technical performance cost competitively
• Applied R&D techniques, machine and process optimization of large batch production of virgin rubber in a continuous manufacturing environment
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical & quality design and control of mixing rubber comprising mainly of NR, SBR, EPDM, CSM, ECO, NBR, PVC-NBR, CR polymer types
• Provide technical support to mixing production team and technical service to internal and external customers
• Assisting in technical and quality projects to produce process improvements and technical economies
• Technical troubleshooting
• Manage hazardous chemicals in legal compliance to the OHASA Act
Background:
• A recognized BSc or postgraduate university degree majoring in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science (rubber) or equivalent
• At least several years relevant experience in the rubber industry working in a technical, quality and R&D laboratory environment
• Relevant technical experience in a large primary processing operation or compounding development environment
• Computer literacy commensurate with the position
• Familiar with the OHASA Act number 85/1993 and the following quality and environmental standards: ISO 9001:2008; ISO 14001:2004
• Incumbent must be a mature self-motivated team player, resourceful, focused, meticulous and have a good work ethic
