Senior Project Manager
Description and Desired Qualifications
- This position reports to a Regional Operations Manager and has accountability for successful project execution when managing transportation projects. The Project Manager is a highly marketable project leader whose personal professional experience provides an advantage to the firm in competing for major and complex projects.
- The Project Manager manages very large size strong Design/Build Transportation Projects ranging from 50 to 200 million plus. The Senior Project Manager is the leader/manager of project teams and is supported by technical task leaders as needed. Specific responsibilities include leadership in the application of [Company] Project Delivery System to achieve the following project delivery strategic objectives: health, safety, environmental responsibility, and client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget, financial performance for project specific targets, project team expectations, operational performance and business unit expectations and quality.
- Specific duties include planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff. The Project Manager is a participant in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling, and performance. Additionally, the Project Manager is responsible for the identification of schedule and cost variances and the development and implementation of recommendations for corrective action for negative variances. The Senior Project Manager also has a responsibility to help grow the PM resources of the firm through coaching of and participating in the development and delivery of PM-oriented learning events.
- Qualifications include a B.S. or M.S. in applicable field or experience in lieu of Serving in the project manager role on Design/Build Transportation projects. Experience includes a minimum of 15 years Heavy/Highway experience. Must be willing to locate to projects on per diem or relocation basis. First Project Assignment will be in Christiansburg, VA.
Basic Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the construction industry with an emphasis in heavy highway construction.
- Experience in both Estimating and Project Management with a Heavy/Highway General Contractor is a plus.
- Candidate must be willing to relocate and travel as needed.
- B.S. in Construction Management or Civil Engineering required, however we will consider experience in lieu of degree.
