Technical Buyer

Our client, a leader in the mining industry, is looking for a Technical Buyer to join their team in Linbro Park for a 3 - 6 months contract.

Minimum requirements

  • Std 10 or NTC 3;
  • Purchasing Diploma;
  • Code B (08) Drivers licence
  • 5 years Technical procurement experience;
  • Sound knowledge of mining machinery and operations;
  • Negotiation skills;
  • Strong administration skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Understanding of safety stock levels and expediting;
  • Sound knowledge of Service Exchange programs;
  • SAP knowledge will be advantageous;
  • Self motivation and sense of commitment is required
  • Excellent communication and people skills

Key responsibilities

  • Decide on which supplier to manufacture which parts
  • Negotiate pricing with local suppliers
  • Substitute casting materials with either plate or forgings
  • Generate P/O's
  • Download drawings and forward to suppliers for quotes
  • Evaluate quotes from manufacturers and forward pricing to sales department
  • Expedite outstanding orders
  • Resolve technical queries from suppliers and sales
