Leading mining company requires the above individual with the following.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience Essential:

  • Electrical / Mechanical Engineering  Degree / National Diploma 
  • Certificate of Competency for Mines and Works
  • Five years experience in maintenance and / or Engineering
  • Experience in managing Engineering Projects
  • Experience in Metallurgical Plant maintenance
  • Computer literacy at a skilled level

Qualifications & experience and advantage

  • Knowledge of RCM , Failure analysis and reliability Engineering
  • Business qualification

Job Specification

Responsibilities:

Legal and production compliance

  • Ensure compliance with MHSA, EMPR and all other statutory compliance
  • Ensure compliance to COPs and SOPs of Nkomati mine
  • Ensure best practice standards and complete HAZOP studies where necessary
  • Carry out statutory checks and inspections on equipment and systems as per the MHSA

Maintenance and breakdowns

  • Ensure effective maintenance of mechanical / electrical equipment
  • Ensure repairs of mechanical / electrical equipment and quality checks
  • Condition monitoring of Concentrate Production equipment
  • Proactively identify improvements to eliminate breakdowns
  • Maximize plant availability by enforcing appropriate maintenance standards
  • Ensure best practice standards on mechanical / electrical work
  • Identify and enforce appropriate daily, weekly, monthly, annually maintenance inspections on equipment
  • Ensure failure close-outs
  • Operational  efficiency and effectiveness to optimize performance

Administration, reports and schedules

  • Planning and prioritizing maintenance activities according to OEM specification
  • Ensure utilization of maintenance management systems and reports
  • Ensure planned maintenance schedules for equipment are issued
  • Monitor and document key parameters such as labor utilization, maintenance effectiveness

Procurement and cost control

  • Network and liaise with engineering companies and equipment suppliers to continuously improve existing systems and implement new systems / equipment where applicable
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of critical equipment
  • Compile and control annual budgets and maintenance targets
  • Identify and apply cost saving measures through continuous improvement of maintenance practices

Ad hoc projects

  • Identify and motivate projects to ensure continuous improvement
  • Apply for Capital Expenditure through a techno-economic evaluation
  • Manage projects to quality, cost and time

SHREQ

  • Ensure legal compliance and cary 2.13.3.1 and 7(4) MHSAct legal appointments
  • Oversee and close out safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports
  • Audit subordinates and area for safety and identify registrations to assure legal compliance
  • Enhance safety awareness throughout working area
  • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement the safety initiative for the section

People management

  • Manage own team’s performance
  • Manage employee relations
  • Train and develop employees
