Senior Process Engineer - Minerals & Mining Processing Industry
Require the expertise of a Senior Process Engineer with A Degree or National Diploma in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering or related field. 5- 8 years' experience in process engineering, in gold and uranium. Must have recent experience in the minerals & resourcing (EPCM) industry.
Position Overview:
- Ensure Process design work generated is cost-effective, done to specification and schedule, within budget and of the highest quality.
- Specify, and ensure the accurate implementation of, process and process requirements in plant design.

- Internal Business Processes: Fit for purpose, cost effective process design and Internal communication within the project structure
- Client: Client liaison and engagement
- Financial: Cost effective process design
- People, Learning & Growth: Management of junior engineers
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce, and ensure the implementation of, effective and detailed design engineering of plants.
- This includes, inter alia,: layouts, equipment, piping, instrumentation, electrics, etc.
- Engage in client liaison and business development activities, as required including assisting with the selling of the package to the client.
- Define all process aspects of plant design, including all conceptual stages.
- Draw up conceptual flow sheet and assist with conceptual layout to be used in tender.
- Calculate process mass balances.
- In conjunction with other disciplines, and in consultation with the client, specify and select mechanical equipment.
- Supervise the generation of layouts and detail design work in conjunction with the Project Engineer and the client.
- Define Process & Instrumentation diagrams and control requirements.
- In conjunction with other disciplines, specify and select instrumentation.
- Establish plant control philosophy, in consultation with the client, as appropriate.
- Specify interlock requirements and mimic panel & control desk (the latter being in consultation with other disciplines)
- Ensure client approves of all flow sheets, P&I diagrams and interlock requirements.
- Inspect plant during erection, ensuring problems are detected and highlighted at an early stage.
- Carry out final inspection at end of erection phase.
- Draw up operating manual with appropriate input from the client.
- Ensure commissioning and training programs and responsibilities are defined and communicated to the client and the contractor.
- Assist with, or assume primary responsibility for: cold dry commissioning, cold wet commissioning, hot wet commissioning and operating training (the degree of the contractor's responsibility for the aforementioned tasks will vary from contract to contract).
- Ensure fine tuning or process work and plant process acceptance by client of the operating plant, at earliest possible date.
- Assess ongoing plant performance, with a view to improving future design.
Critical Competencies:
Education:
- A Degree or National Diploma in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Experience:
- A minimum 5- 8 years' experience in process engineering, in gold and uranium.
Technical:
- Experience in both production and design, with a preference being given to process design.
- Registered Professional Engineer, preferable, but not essential.
- Experience in the resources industry. In particular, experience in an engineering consulting environment.
- Experience in managing budgets and understanding of key accounting principles.
- Experience in completing feasibility studies, highly preferred.
- Advanced computer literacy skills in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Knowledge and experience in working on MS Project a distinct advantage.
- Experience in managing relationships with contractors and service providers, an advantage.
- Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
