Geologist, Exploration Licences

Our client is a major North Sea oil and gas operating company, based in Aberdeen, who is looking to recruit a geologist to join the Exploration Licence Group.

The aim of the role is to identify the exploration opportunities in and around the company focus areas within the UKCS. To evaluate and rank the exploration prospects within the UK portfolio and to mature and drill those prospects that add value to the UK business.

Specific responsibilities include conducting regional studies to identify and evaluate exploration potential; evaluating the exploration prospectivity within the company's licenced acreage; identifying the key risks associated with prospects and reducing uncertainty; for the highest ranked exploration/appraisal opportunities, maturing to drillable status, generating post-well audits to ensure learnings are captured, participating in partner meetings and supporting data room evaluations to help optimise the UK portfolio of opportunities.

Candidates should be educated to degree level - preferably with an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience.
Experience must include previous employment within the exploration or subsurface department of an operating company.

Also experience in conducting regional studies to assess exploration prospectivity, experience in identifying and maturing exploration/appraisal/infill opportunities to drillable status, experience in using a broad spectrum of geological information to evaluate subsurface opportunities and exposure to petrophysical and geophysical characterisation techniques are all necessary.
