Initially to support the Project Manager to design, build and commission a Tungsten/Tin Process Plant that can be operated safely and efficiently.
Post commissioning the role will be to safely manage the Process Plant.
To build a productive conscientious team which efficiently meet production targets, both tonnage and quality and continually strives to improve all aspects of plant performance.
Key Duties:
• Fully understand the equipment and take ownership of the flow sheet to ensure the correct controls are in the design so that the plant can achieve its required capacity and concentrate quality.
• Establish the process plant functional specification which leads into finalising the piping and instrument diagrams including detail of controls, valve selection etc.
• Ensure that the design and level of detail is to a high standard and finalise process documentation for the EPC contractor.
• Develop an overview of plant layouts and philosophy of equipment selection with the detail work performed by the EPC Contractor.
• Take the lead in ensuring the processes can be automatically controlled efficiently with good visibility for operators with appropriate warning systems if external actions are needed.
• Determine the best system for operators to monitor and remotely adjust the processes and ensure suitable data storage systems and capacity for back analysis.
• Advise on standardising of process equipment and its maintenance regime and calibration.
• Take the lead in preparing operational manuals for operators and supervisors and ensure they are kept up to date.
• Plan and prepare appropriate screen displays which help manage the process.
• Assist in designing a plant that can easily be kept clean with the minimum of spillage.
• Assist in designing a plant that is easy to maintain with good safe access for maintenance engineers.
• Manage the commissioning phase to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
• Ensure that a high calibre team is recruited and suitably trained.
• Be a part of the senior management team and contribute to ensuring all the systems, procedures and documentation is in place to ensure the business runs safely and efficiently.
Qualifications and experience:
• A good standard relevant degree is a minimum requirement such as Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of management and processing engineering experience is required.
• Ideally experience in base metal processing such as tin, gold and tungsten also a good working knowledge of Dense Media Separation, grinding, flotation, Humphrey Spirals, shaking tables and magnetic separation would be highly regarded; as would be start up experience of a green field site.
Key Skills:
• Able to manage a safe operation
• Team player and good communicator
• Relevant process plant experience
• Plant commissioning
• Management skills
• Budgetary and Reporting
• Proficient use of computer
