Senior Modular Construction Engineer

Job Description

  • Manages construction support engineers, coordinates and schedules their activities to ensure that support services are provided on a timely basis. Provides guidance and participates in the career and professional development of personnel under his supervision. Manages assigned organization within established budgetary guidelines and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Reports the status of the operation of the assigned organization to management.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with corporate engineering disciplines and project management. Provides assistance and technical direction to business units. Participates in business development activities and promotes a professional relationship with clients and company management. Maintains contact with consultants and organizations outside the company with responsibility for providing specialized services. Develops procedures and programs for providing technical support.
  • Evaluates and assesses the construction support requirements of the company as well as develops and provides the types and levels of expertise and services required to support construction operations. Communicates with company and project management as well as designers and client representatives concerning the establishment and implementation of constructability programs.
  • Evaluates project requirements and recommends methods and techniques to meet these requirements. Analyzes the construction program and recommends the appropriate construction equipment to be used, including equipment for special processes. Develops methods and techniques for the implementation of special processes. Provides instruction and training for special processes and procedures. Develops and implements testing and examination procedures and programs.
  • Initiates and implements the project constructability program during the early phases of the project prior to the assignment of a full-time Site Project Manager or Construction Manager. Evaluates project requirements and recommends methods and techniques to meet these requirements. Assists projects in the integration of constructability programs into the overall construction plan. Evaluates the effectiveness of project constructability programs.
  • Plays an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed. Serves as constructability program coordinator on large projects, if required.
  • Performs constructability reviews
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding state-of-the-art materials, equipment, methods, and techniques.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Degreed or equivalent project experience
  • Typically has 8-12 years of project experience
  • Has demonstrated modular experience including EPC/CM development and planning
  • Has demonstrated modular piping and structural experience that focuses upon layout, fabrication, assembly, staging, load out and transportation of small, intermediate and large process ISBL and ISBL/OSBL pipe rack modules.
  • Has modular fabrication yard experience that includes weight control, assembly completion documentation, preparation for transit on over land and water borne vessels.
  • Has demonstrated ability to develop early modular configuration tables, modular craft manpower planning projections and curves, evaluate and project modular man hour productivity and develop early cost evaluations for modular work.
  • Has demonstrated experience in setting modular goals and objectives and planning, developing, documenting and execution of the constructability program under the Supervision of the CM.
  • Has experience and understanding of early modular development including fabricator’s man hours per ton and cost per ton.
  • Has modular experience in early prequalification and recommendation of fabricators.
  • Has demonstrated experience in scheduling modular fabrication, assembly, hook up and pre-commissioning.
