This position is seconded to RPS Boyd PetroSearch; a large sized consulting firm specializing in domestic and international seismic program management, interpretation and resource assessments. Acquisition services include 2D, 3D and 4D survey design and management, government approvals, permitting, environmental monitoring and field supervision.
Position Profile
Position Title: Intermediate GIS Analyst
Reports to: Field Operations Support Manager
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Current Position Information: The GIS Analyst is responsible for creating, organizing and updating a wide variety of maps and Geographic Information System (GIS) data sets. Primary responsibilities will include the creation of production maps; manipulation and maintenance of geospacial data in the Field Operations Support Group. Typical duties may include but not be limited to:
- Creation and maintenance of GIS databases and production mapping
- GIS data processing, geodatabase editing, spatial analysis and image georeferencing
- Ability to solve technical challenges quickly and effectively using ESRI software
- Correct and provide quality control and quality assurance of GIS and related databases
- Assist in research, compilation of data, accurate and timely data entry, heads-up digitizing and reformatting, interpreting, validating and cleaning data
- Assist with special projects and other duties as required
Skills
The successful candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Degree or formal training with 2-5 years intermediate level related GIS experience
- Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.x or above
- Solid background in ESRI products and extensions
- Experience with ModelBuilder
- Comprehensive knowledge of GIS concepts, data management, digital map production, raster imaging and cartographic principles
- Knowledge of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan survey systems
- Strong analytical skills, superior technical skills and attention to detail
- Positive and enthusiastic work ethic and attitude
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and prioritize workload from multiple sources
- Committed to continuous learning and development
- Previous experience within the seismic industry is considered a definite asset
