Principal Metallurgist

Our client is one of the world’s largest metal producers, with mines on several continents.

The Role:

The Company seeks a Principal Metallurgist to join their team in Vancouver, Canada.  This is a senior position to oversee all the process and metallurgical projects of a company that owns and operates a portfolio of world-class base metal mining operations.  Specifically responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the development of Metallurgical improvement project plan
• Support the technical team and conduct projects to ensure delivery of the Metallurgical projects
• Lead in the delivery of key metallurgical operational targets
• Ensure continued success of the Mill variance process (problem identification, analysis and solution development)
• Support the implementation of Metallurgical improvement project plan
• Proactively support Metallurgical troubleshooting of operational performance issues, when required
• Lead development and implementation of Metallurgical Project Management Tool.
• Identify and support the delivery of continuous improvement through a structured change management process (identification of key variances and the development of appropriate solutions)

The Candidate:

Applicants for this role must have the following:

• Metallurgical/Process/Chemical Engineering related Degree and further management qualifications
• 15 years minimum experience in various Metallurgical roles
• Technical Specialist  10- 15 years
• Managing Performance 3-5 yrs
• Previous operations experience, an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
• Excellent knowledge of safety policies and procedures
