National Manager of Human Development

Job Responsibilities:

  • [Company] (GAI), an employee owned engineering and environmental consulting firm, is seeking a National Manager of Human Development (HD) to provide leadership to plan, organize, and manage learning and training activities that are aligned with GAI’s business strategies. 
  • This individual will design and oversee the effectiveness of a curriculum to develop employee talent and company performance consistent with the achievement of company goals. This position ishands-onand reports directly to the Executive VP of Operations and works interdependently with the National Leader of Human Resources.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage the development and administration of a strategic comprehensive blended learning and development curriculum with a focus on mixed learning opportunities including e-learnings, webinars, face to face events, and external courses;
  • Communicate commitment to blended learning and development strategy for all internal and external clients; articulate how establishing a learning and development program will benefit the business;
  • Solicit communication, cooperation, and coordination to gather input on learning and development needs and priorities, including leveraging global company resources;
  • Develop strategic alliances and partnerships to further the progress of the learning and development initiatives;
  • Collaborate with the Global Learning Team; seek their support when developing solutions for the US operating company, share US developments and implement global learning products.
  • Research and recommend learning and development strategies for all levels within the U.S. company to optimize performance consistent with corporate goals;
  • Identify specific needs and opportunities for individual or team performance enhancement by conducting assessments;
  • Assist individuals and teams in developing specific learning and development plans;
  • Establish and monitor policies for Federal, State and Local mandated learning and development and advise on potential impact in a timely manner;
  • Develop, maintain and monitor learning and development e-manuals or other documentation;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all current courses, internal and external programs and report progress, process improvement and strategy recommendations to senior management; regularly review course materials to determine quality and relevance to desired performance;
  • Identify program deficiencies and conduct timely research and consultation to determine methods for correction;
  • Apply appropriate measures and metrics for training processes and programs to evaluate their effectiveness/ROI and individual and organization performance improvement;
  • Prepare, implement and monitor training budgets and provide progress reports as needed;
  • Manage the combined use of external consultants and internal facilitators as a cost effective strategy;
  • Develop, lead and mentor a team of [Company] U training facilitators;
  • Remain current on state-of-the-art developments in training and instructional methodologies.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organization Development or related field;
  • Minimum 10 years ofhands-on progressive experience designing curriculum for and managing large and complex learning and development programs, preferably in a professional services environment;
  • Experience developing, analyzing and measuring instructional blended learning/training programs to a large employee population located in multiple regions;
  • Experience selecting and implementing new and emerging technologies to deliver effective computer-based training as well as building/hosting a curriculum of instructor-based classes;
  • Exceptional management, vision, leadership, motivational and partner development skills;
  • Proven record of success in conducting as well as leading a team of training facilitators and instructors including balanced coordination of internal and external resources;
  • Outstanding presenter and communicator; ability to communicate to all audiences; strong facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrated competency in written/oral communication, team development, assessment and feedback, training design, operational planning, coaching and performance management;
  • Ability to conduct assessments/instructional analysis to ensure conformity with training objectives and develop training plans as needed. Ability to establish training metrics and to measure results against costs;
  • Proficient in Learning Management Systems and intranet-based applications; ability to leverage technology for business solutions;
  • Position requires approximately 30% travel with periods of more frequent travel at various points in the year depending upon operation demands;
  • Experience leading hands-on training programs within a multi-unit organization is preferred;
