Chemist/Lab Technician

Job Responsibilities

• Job duties will consist of operating a variety of analytical equipment and instruments analyzing various types of environmental samples including waste waters, industrial discharge and natural resources from the extraction industries (mining and petroleum) using standard EPA methods. Instrumentation and techniques include ICP, AA, IC, Flow Injection Analyzer, UV/Vis, titrations and solid-phase extractions. Responsibilities will include managing backlog of samples, perform data validation and upload into LIMS program. Perform routine maintenance on instruments and oversee inventory of supplies and standards.
• Will be required to follow strict QA/QC lab protocol. Should be familiar MS Office Suite programs and be able to navigate computer network. Have the ability to communicate with other department level experts on technical questions or issues that may arise. Be dependable, self-motivated, detail oriented and work well in a team atmosphere. Other routine lab duties will be involved.

Qualifications

• A BS/BA in Chemistry/Biology or other science field is required for Chemist positions. HS or GED required and science related background preferred for Technician positions. No lab experience in the private sector is required however is preferred.
