Position Profile
Position Title: Geomechanical Reservoir /Petroleum Engineer
Reports to: Reservoir Engineering Manager
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Current Position Information: Geomechanical Reservoir/Petroleum Engineer will play an important role within the Reservoir Engineering Team. Typical projects are both Canadian and International, and involve an inter-disciplinary team approach, based in our Calgary office.
The Role: We are looking for a Geomechanical Reservoir/Petroleum Engineer to take a lead role in delivering high quality consultancy services to Clients. This is predominantly a technical role. The successful applicant should expect to work on multiple projects that often run simultaneously.
The successful applicant will gain experience in the following:
- Geomechanical input to caprock studies for SAGD projects in Western Canada. This includes thermal reservoir simulations coupled with finite element, geomechanical models.
- Thermal reservoir simulations including solvent flooding
- Simulating development and optimization of conventional oil and gas assets
- Reservoir engineering input to multi-disciplinary projects including field development planning, enhanced oil recovery, asset management, performance analysis, reserves determination and auditing, economic assessments, peer reviews and due diligence
- Conduct using both state-of-the art and classical reservoir engineering techniques including, reservoir simulation, streamline modeling, integrated asset modeling, PVT characterization, material balance, decline curve analysis, well test analysis, etc.
- Work could include frac design and shale gas development

- Acquisitions and Divestments
Skills:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- A background in soil and rock mechanics
- An interest in and understanding of geology and hydrogeology
- Experience with geostatistics, finite element modeling and reservoir simulation
- 5+ years of diverse progressive petroleum engineering experience with International and Canadian experience
- Entrepreneurial attitude
- Initiative in solving complex technical problems and decision making ability
- Results focused team player with a positive attitude and ability to multi-task in a dynamic work environment without supervision
- Good communication and presentation skills
- PC literate and familiarity with state-of-the-art engineering software
- University engineering degree and APEGGA membership
- (A Masters degree would be considered an asset)
