Vice President, Senior Analyst, Bulk Commodities

You will have the opportunity to…
- Provide comprehensive, timely and in-depth research reports and investment recommendations on companies in the Bulk Commodities sector in the Canadian market place and maintains notes and relevant working papers to support recommendations and target prices
- Manage the work and performance of the Associate, Research
- Report directly to the VP & Head of Research
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on companies in the Bulk Commodities sector in the Canadian market place;
- Make investment recommendations on companies in the Bulk Commodities sector using reasonable care to maintain independence and objectivity in making investment recommendations;
- Maintain a working file, including spreadsheets that model each company’s financial statements;
- Ensure that the working files contain sufficient material such as Annual Reports, Prospectuses, Quarterly Reports, Press Releases, etc. to justify the investment recommendations and target prices;
- Maintain notes and relevant working papers to support investments recommendations and target prices;
- Review each company on the Senior Analyst’s coverage list on a quarterly basis at least;
- Initiate coverage of new companies in the sector on agreement and approval from the VP & Head of Research;
- Communicate research ideas toDundee’s Clients, the Sales & Trading desk and the Investment Banking department;
- Provide written research publications on companies;
- Maintain contact with Clients in the form of phone calls, meetings, etc.;
- Participate in marketing efforts with the Sales & Trading desk;
- Attend morning meetings and contributes trading ideas;
- Provide information on companies covered to Investment Banking in a manner that is fully compliant with securities regulation and Company compliance policy;
- Comply with guidelines with respect to professional conduct (e.g. AIMR standards of practice);
- Manage and mentor the Associate, Bulk Commodities;
- Ensure accuracy of research, conducted by the Associate, Research and delivery of reports on a timely basis;
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the industry database for Bulk Commodities and delivery of reports on a timely basis;
- Ensure that compliance directives, policy and procedures are followed by the Associate and monitors accordingly;
- Regulate the quality and quantity of work performed by the Associate, Bulk Commodities;
- Organize training and development opportunities for Associate, as required;
- Advise the VP & Head of Research of any unusual circumstances or research situations;
- Act as back up for the VP & Head of Research on matters related to the Bulk Commodities sector, as required;
- Take responsibility for special projects, as assigned by the VP & Head of Research; and
- Perform any other duties, as required or assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Graduate degree in Business or other related technical degree, where applicable;
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA);
- Strong computer and accounting skills e.g. building financial models with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office;
- Minimum of 6 to 10 years experience with Bulk Commodities;
- Knowledge of the Industry;
- Knowledge of Relevant Legislation;
- Strong presentation skills;
- Strong Problem-Solving skills;
- Strong Analytical thinking skills;
- Experience Managing and Mentoring staff;
- Experience with Research and Statistical Techniques; and
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
