Senior Geophysicist - Seismic Processing

Our client is a global, independent energy company with upstream and downstream assets.

Job Description

Due to continued expansion, our client is currently looking to recruit an experienced data processing geophysicist. Our client is exceptionally active with some very high profile projects and this is a genuine opportunity to join a team as it expands.
The successful candidate will be experienced in the processing of onshore and offshore seismic data including the application of PSDM. The experience will have been gained with a major processing contractor or with an operating company.

An understanding of both onshore and offshore data acquisition methods is required and experience of planning and managing seismic surveys would be advantageous. Additionally, the successful candidate will be familiar with the principles of AVO analysis and seismic inversion.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Supervision of contractor based 2D and 3D seismic data processing projects
• Tender evaluation and contract negotiations
• Seismic survey planning and design
• Monitoring of seismic survey acquisition
• Determine and apply appropriate geophysical tools for specific problems
• Provide general geophysical support to the exploration, development and production business units

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Recent hands on data processing experience
• Thorough knowledge of modern seismic processing techniques
• Understanding of modern seismic acquisition methods
• Experience of 2D and 3D seismic survey design and planning
• Familiarity with rock physics, AVO analysis and seismic inversion
• Knowledge of converted wave processing
• A relevant qualification in a Geophysics or Geology related subject
