Health and Safety Manager
Job Description:
- We are hiring a Safety Manager/Coordinator to manage Health, Safety, Environmental practices, including, but not limited to OSHA 29 CFR 1904/1910/1926 and Federal/State Environmental requirements. Candidate will also possesses the necessary skills sets and competency to perform daily HSE routines and provide general HSE expertise to the to all work groups for the purpose of assuring compliance to Company HSE standards and Federal/State regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance to OSHA standards and Federal or State Environmental regulations, including any annual reporting
- Assist in on site development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Performs HSE inspections, audits, identifies anomalies, follow up reports to appropriate dept. leads to ensure corrective action.
- Provides/arrange required HSE training. Instruct workers in proper HSE techniques.
- Facilitates monthly HSE meetings.
- Liaise with relevant dept. to resolve HSE related matters within area of responsibility.
- Ensures risk/hazard assessments are adequate and in compliance to HSE standards.
- Assist in various activities, including but not limited to:
- Incident reporting and investigations, producing in-house reports as a result of investigation findings,
- Waste minimization and disposal controls,
- Worker Compensation claims initiation and medical follow up.
- Assist in ensuring medical cases are properly handled.
- Provides monthly, quarterly and/or yearly HSE statistics when requested or required by the HSEQ Manager, Plant Manager and Executive management.
- Researches and prepares records for processing. Tracks documents and records.
- Facilitate day to day HSE functions to ensure desired HSE culture; including recommended improvement actions or plans.
- May also be involved with on-line client required HSE informational databases.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Qualifications Include:
- Must have ability to work effectively with company personnel and customers
- Must be insurable by the company's insurance carrier. Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must have regular attendance on the job
- All requirements must be accomplished in primary language, which is English
- Mush have knowledge of HSE programs, techniques, auditing, concepts, including an understanding of OSHA expectations and practices
- Individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management or other groups
- Some math ability
- Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to prepare, interpret and present reports to direct or indirect management
- Must possess the ability to write, edit and implement HSE procedures and policies
- Must possess general computer skills; especially in Word and Excel
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- General recognized understanding of all aspects of the HSE related duties
- Must have the ability to recognize potential HSE related problems, quickly report such concerns, and work directly with the Manufacturing and HSEQ groups in the problem solving process
- Attention to detail; therefore, continuous analyzing of the on-going process is important to recognizing and preventing potential problems and incidents. It is this individual's responsibility to take the lead in this area
