IT Manager

Overview:

  • Responsible for leading and directing the Network Operations team of the IT Department. Ensures IT projects are completed on-time and within established budgets. Works closely with the Network Operations Supervisor to monitor and evaluate staffing needs and requirements to ensure IT systems are operating per the defined Service Level Agreements and Priority Support Levels established in the IT Services Catalog. Provides critical input to the IT Director for the establishment of realistic long range IT strategic plans and operating budgets. Has final approval for hiring and termination of employees assigned to Network Operations or Network Engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • May supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training. May conduct Individual Development Reviews.
  • May make hiring, discipline and/or termination decisions.
  • Level 5 IT Support Position: Builds strong customer and employee relations to facilitate completion of IT projects and/or reliable operation of IT systems.  Flexible problem solver capable of appropriately resolving complex business problems and personnel issues in a timely and professional manner.  Positive leader who can motivate teams to accomplish objectives and foster an environment of mentoring and trust.  Works well with diverse customers and understands who effectively manages expectations.
  • Regularly travels to regional offices to build strong relationships with assigned personnel, operational managers and company leaders.  Listens to feedback from customers, works closely with assigned personnel to find cost-effective IT solutions that satisfy business requirements.
  • Attends scheduled meetings and/or participates on corporate committees to provide IT department representation or technical advice to company leaders.  Adheres to the IT department Projects schedules; utilizes meeting agendas; summarizes discussions points in meeting minutes; conducts post meeting follow-up to ensure timely completion of all assigned action items.
  • Overall responsibility for Network Operations team and reliable daily operation of the Network and PC environments.  Ensures Network Operations performs within the stated policies and procedures for all devices directly or indirectly connected to the company WAN.  Works closely with IT Director to develop appropriate policies or procedures when new technologies are introduced into the environment.
  • Closely monitors all IT projects assigned to the Network Engineering team.  Ensures each project has a detailed project schedule with realistic time-lines and appropriate staffing levels and/or qualified consultants assigned to the project.  Provides regular status reports and project schedule updates to the IT Director.
  • Negotiates Vendor contracts for hardware/software and consulting/outsourcing services.  Exercises good judgment and complies with all company policies related to ethics and professional conduct.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to the Compliance department during internal investigations. Works closely with assigned staff, consulting partners or other third parties to accomplish objectives and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive company information or data. Supports and enforces company and IT department security policies and procedures.
  • Stays current on the latest technological innovations for computer and network based technologies, infrastructures and services.  Maintain on-going education, both company-provided and personal, and networks with peers in the industry.  Attends seminars, subscribes to publications relating to existing and planned systems, and evaluates new technology concepts and innovations.  Provides written and oral presentations of findings on proposed technology projects.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and early/late hours to implement upgrades or resolve critical system failures with minimal disruption of end-user services.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or business related curriculum, or an AA plus a minimum of three years IT management experience.
  • Minimum five years hands-on technical experience in a LAN/WAN environment.
  • Microsoft MCSE certification desirable.
  • Proven PC proficiency with Microsoft software including Windows and Office.
  • Demonstrated skills in personnel and project management.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and completing technology projects of value  greater than 500K.
  • Proactive, results oriented with excellent customer service skills.
  • Superior communications, planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
