Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Land North America Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will support the US Land operational division located in our Houston office. This role is responsible for ensuring that the human resources function brings significant value to the business unit through the provision of advice, information and services.

Job Requirements 

  • Primary HR contact for the US Operations Managers of Land Acquisition.
  • Works directly with the leadership team on all critical and strategic HR initiatives and communicates the needs of the business to corporate HR.
  • Provide training for Managers as necessary for initiatives such as development plans, performance reviews, harassment, selection interview techniques, and other HR related initiatives.
  • Build relationships based on trust with the Land management team.
  • The ability to build effective internal customer relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization is very important. Proven ability to build relationships with and influence a diverse range of audiences, including senior management.
  • Monitor employee concerns and emerging people issues through the HR Supervisors and directly through the employees as required.
  • Provide confidential guidance and coaching to managers and staff concerning policies, practices, employee issues, performance excellence and conflict resolution.
  • Investigate a variety of employee related issues (employment claims, harassment, discrimination, etc.), incidents and complaints, resolves disputes and recommends appropriate/remedial action(s).
  • Monitor the relevance to the business of HR policies and programs. Designs new programs and rolls them out as required.
  • Ensure that all HR policies are being adhered to.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ensures that confidentiality is maintained for all sensitive human resources information.
  • Identifies training needs and arranges for training delivery through the Development Team and/or [Company] University, external consultants, or delivers it directly.
  • Actively works with department managers on the development of their employees:
  • Monitor the effectiveness of all training and career development activities and either makes changes or relates the need to the relevant parties.
  • Has a strong understanding of compensation strategy and all aspects of total compensation (including bonus plans and benefits). Works with senior management to design and execute the compensation strategy.
  • Ensure that all total compensation packages are competitive in the marketplace and provides advice to senior management on compensation issues.
  • Ensure all staffing levels (salaried and hourly) are met through aggressive and creative recruitment strategies and campaigns. Ensures we are differentiating ourselves from our employment competitors and we are getting the best candidates.
  • Participate, as required, in recruiting activities (attending job fairs, interviewing, drug testing etc).
  • Ensure that the basic functions of job advertisement placement, standard application forms and pre-employment exams etc. are provided and conducted in a legal and professional manner so that professional results will materialize.
  • Maintain clear, regular communications with hiring managers regarding position requirements, best sourcing strategies, candidate assessment, interviewing strategies, etc.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business
  • 2-4 years Human Resources experience
  • Takes ownership of duties, shows initiative and is proactive
  • Ability to influence.
  • Strong Presentation skills.
  • A pro-active individual with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Effective prioritization, organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Desire and ability to grow professionally while significantly enhancing a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Attention to detail; strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability and desire to embrace and manage change.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong, open communicator; active listener, ability to influence and catalyze others to take action.

Desired

  • Energy and international experience preferred.
  • Experience performing in a multi-site environment through matrix organizations.
  • PHR is a plus
  • Spanish: written and spoken is a plus
