Geophysicist

On behalf of our client we are now looking to recruit a geophysicist to be based in Aberdeen on a permanent basis. Working as part of an established team this role involves conduct evaluation and interpretation of seismic and well data, primarily prospect or field specific work that includes 3D interpretation to constrain structural closures, define reservoir/pay distribution, assess resource potential and geologic risk elements to locate exploration or development wells. This includes recommendations on geophysical acquisition, processing, attribute analysis, velocity modelling seismic inversion and earth model construction.

Key responsibilities including
• Interpretation of 2D & 3D seismic date to define exploration prospects or support field development activities including well locating and earth model construction
• Familiarity with modern interpretation software is a necessity for this role
• Ability to extract and interpret seismic attributes for use in exploration and development well positioning / earth model construction
• Underlying knowledge of seismic processing and acquisition principles
• Able to guide contractor reprocessing efforts
• Provide informal mentoring of less experienced geophysicists in geophysical techniques and principals

In order to be considered for this role you will demonstrate team work and communication skills in order to support the business.

The ideal candidate will have:
• MSc in Geology or Geophysics
• Previous industry experience in 3D seismic volume interpretation
• Expertise in sequence stratigraphy, and advanced volume interpretation techniques generation and interpretation of multiple attribute volumes, velocity modelling, elastic impedance inversion, RPFS workflows
• Experience demonstrating successful geophysical interpretation support for exploration and development drilling. Generation of well ties to seismic volumes, geological risk and resource assessment
• Experience with data acquisition, quality control and interpretation of resistivity logs
