Construction Manager
Job Description:
- [Company] is currently seeking a Construction Manager for a San Diego based company.
- Candidates must have prior experience in overseeing the construction of large industrial equipment such as conveyors. Prior experience in the mining industry is a plus.
General Qualifications:
- The position requires supervision of the assembly and erection of Clients supplied equipment (mainly conveyor systems) to clients mining site in Australia. This position requires candidates to guide/supervise mechanical installation crews. Must be able to identify, solve and manage through any typical field construction problem that may arise with minimum input from the home office.
- Must be able to travel to many locations throughout the world, and remain in these locations for extended periods at times.
Educational Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in field construction
- A minimum of an Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma OR High School Diploma with a Journeyman Certifications (or equivalent)
- Knowledge and /or experience in industrial equipment and installation
Desired Attributes:
- Good working knowledge of electrical diagrams and schematics is a plus
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, welding, industrial mechanical equipment
- Experience in mechanical and structural construction techniques and coordination experience in start-ups and commissioning
- Computer knowledge and experience in; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD
Major Responsibilities:
- Review drawings prior to construction to ensure that the project can be built in a safe and reliable manner
- Review and approve the Subcontractor’s safety procedures for electrical work on site
- Coordinate all mechanical work with client’s internal mechanical and structural site supervisors including scheduling of any kind
- Ensure electrical construction is per the drawings and specifications
- Ensure the Subcontractor follows the approved QA/QC procedures
- Ensure as built drawings and documentation are completed in a timely manner
- Regularly update the Client /Project Manager on the construction progress
- Identify any schedule trends towards delays and formulate recovery plans
- Assist with construction schedule as required by the Client and Project Manager
- Ensure that all internal and Client supplied material required for the project are on site prior to construction
- Review and manage design change notices from the Client
- Review and manage change order requests from the Subcontractor
