Structural Geologist

Based in [Location] , UK and having an office in Houston, Texas, [Company] is a leading independent oil, gas and minerals exploration consultancy. Our multidisciplinary teams provide a broad range of services, non-exclusive and proprietary studies, and gravity and magnetic data, to an international, diverse client base from Super-Majors to NOCs and small regional independents. Due to the success of our geophysics, structural and tectonic interpretation studies and services, we are seeking outstanding structural geologists to join our team. We are especially keen to find candidates with experience in applying potential fields - based methods to structural interpretation. Based in our head office in Leeds, the position may require travel to interact with our international clients. A competitive salary, commensurate with industry standards and the individual's experience, will be offered.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Hold a higher degree in Geophysics, Geology or a related subject
  • Have demonstrable and substantial experience in structural interpretation at basin and regional scales
  • Understand the role of tectonics on basin dynamics and evolution
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in interpretation/usage of seismic and potential field data
  • Have strong numeracy and IT skills
  • Be flexible and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Possess excellent communications skills and be fluent in English, both written and orally

In addition, the following skills will be beneficial:

  • Several years experience in the interpretation of potential field data in oil industry applications
  • ArcGIS experience
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use relevant structural and potential fields modelling software (e.g.2D/3DMove, PaleoGIS, gPlates; Geosoft Oasis Montaj)
  • Ability and inclination to mentor junior staff and disseminate technical knowledge
