Engineering Manager. An Engineering Manager with a mechanical engineering or electrical engineering background is sought to join a highly successful SME that design, develop and build a unique product range for hostile environments. The Engineering Manager will lead and manage an engineering department of 8 people, which includes Mechanical Design / Draughtspersons and Electrical Design / Draughtspersons to ensure the timely production of sound, cost effective designs.
Key responsibilities of the position will include:
• Responsible for the project management of contracts, controlling budgets and project timescales.
• Act as the customer interface for projects – each project involves the bespoke design of a product.
• Each project involves mechanical design and development (2D/3D CAD – Inventor) and electrical design and development (AC/DC traction systems, PLC and micro control systems, panel wiring, wiring looms).
• You will get the opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director to strategically plan the future growth of the engineering department.
To be successful you will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer that has the ability to successfully manage customers, projects and an engineering team to successful deliver the design and build of medium to heavy engineering products on time and to budget. Any exposure to the design, development and build of equipment used within hostile environments (off road vehicles, construction machinery, mining equipment, rail vehicles etc…). The company has a global client base so the role will include some international travel.
Salary and Package:
Up to circa £42,000 plus 20% bonus, pension and other benefits.
