Payroll & Benefits Assistant - Intermediate
Nanaimo, BC
This position reports directly to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator and will perform a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for pay advances, and processing terminations. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing.
Key qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation plus the completion of courses in accounting and payroll.
- Completion of courses in payroll administration. Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification or Learning Payroll I and II courses preferred.
- 3-5 years related experience including the use of accounting software.
- Experience in a similar payroll role preferred, minimum one year.
- Internal customer focus - able to develop, maintain and nurture strong relationships with customers by listening, understanding and responding to identified needs.
