Business Leader - Machine Shop Job

Role Summary/Purpose:

  • The Business Leader will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans to ensure successful attainment of OHV output scheduling commitments
  • Analyze production labor requirements, implementing appropriate capacity decisions within budget
  • Be responsible for developing and executing a business plan that provides delivery of goals and metrics including Safety, Quality, Productivity, Output, Cycle reduction / Inventory Reduction, and Continuous Improvement / Lean Implementation Strategy for a given Product / Machining
  • Promote customer satisfaction, develop positive customer relationships, and focus on Team Development
  • Create and Drive Lean Vision via leading and participating in Action Workouts (AWO! / kaizen) and utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools to improve processes
  • Responsible for the entire value stream for given product / machining and all operating metrics
  • Be accountable for production metrics, lean strategy / execution, and product employee issues
  • Material flow, sequencing, and batch size scheduling to optimize output and machine / labor utilization
  • Provide leadership in problem resolution, resource utilization, and career counseling
  • Drive improvement in First Time Yield via training, operator accountability, and process improvements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Leadership role
  • Minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

Desired Characteristics

  • Machine Shop operational experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Engineering is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Prior experience developing and managing a global team is preferred
  • Six Sigma training is preferred (GE employees only)
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify critical issues
  • Strong propensity for excelling in a demanding environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
